Samuel H. Murphy was born Nov. 6, 1851 and died December 1, 1908.


He joined the M. E. Church in the year 1872 and lived a Christian Life, a
devoted husband and a kind father until death he
was also a member of the Golden Cross Lodge. He was married to Nancy M.
Collings March 27, 1873; to this union were
born 9 children 5 boys and 4 girls and 15 grandchildren, all of whom survive
him except one grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Scottsburg M. E. Church by Rev. W. H.
Tompson assisted by Rev. F. W. Davis and Rev.
W. A. Matthews. The remains were interred in the Scottsburg cemetery.
