There was an error in the Newspaper. Should have read World War II. This was brought to my attention by his daughter, but the newspaper made the error, not me.

A New Albany man was killed when a tractor he was driving flipped over
pinning him to the ground early Saturday. James E. Ashby, 56, of
2309 Beeler St., was dead at the scene of the accident near Galena. He
was reportedly clearing land on property he owned. He was a native
of Seymour and a district superintendent for the Public Service Indiana
Co. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Galena United
Methodist Church. Survivors include: his widow, Mabel K. Ashby;
three sons, Billy Dean, James Edward and Glenn E. Ashby; five daughters,
Mrs. Alvin Watters, Heber Springs, Ark., Mrs. Ronald Keller and Mrs.
Stephen Beickman, both of Clarksville, Mrs. Linda Sullivan, Alva, Fla.,
and Mrs. Ralph Carroll; a stepson, Willie C. Pearson , Calumet AFB,
Mich.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Donna Smith, Columbus, and Mrs. Sue
Adams, and 27 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Seabrook
Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today.
