Salem, Indiana, All Torn Up Over the Matter

[Special Dispatch to the Cincinnati Gazette] Salem, April 30-Hiram Hicks of this town married a young woman named Wells at Crab Orchard, Ky., several years ago by whom he had a beautiful daughter.
Recently the wife's affections have been won by a man named Adams, and the infatuated woman was detected in her guilty by her husband. He remonstrated with her, but she told him frankly she could not love him and did love Adams and intended to go to Kentucky and live with him. In this, strange to say, she was backed by her brother. Learning her determination, the husband sold his house and lot and household goods and divided the proceeds of the sale with his recreant wife who left the next day to lead a life of shame with the scoundrel that had ruined her.
