TRAIN HITS AN AUTO; TWO KILLED, FOUR HURT Demolished Machine and One Body Carried Two Blocks on Engine Pilot at Hoopeston, Ill.

Hoopeston, Ill., July 3-Two persons were killed, three were so seriously injured they may not recover, and one was slightly hurt here Thursday afternoon when a north bound passenger train on the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad crashed into an automobile on one of the principal street crossings in the city.

D. L. Ogdon of Bismarck, Ill., was killed.

Mrs. Emily Standish of Salem, Indiana, was fatally injured, dying later at a Danville hospital.

Mrs. D. L. Ogdon of Bismarck, B. W. Williams of Bismarck, and Miss Alice Standish of Salem, Ind., were so badly hurt that it is feared they cannot recover. They are in a hospital at Danville. The party came here from Bismarck to spend the day with relatives.

The driver of the automobile was B. W. Williams, proprietor of a garage at Bismarck. They had just started to return home and were caught on an unguarded crossing. The machine was demolished, and the five adults in the party were crushed, only a 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ogdon escaping serious injury.

The automobile was carried for nearly two blocks on the pilot of the engine before the train could be brought to a stop, and the body of Mrs. Ogdon was carried along with the wreckage.
