Recommend contacting the Green Banner Publications office in Salem Indiana. They did an article several years ago about the history of Moorsville and Floyds Knobs.
Good Luck!

Martha Moore was a Beleville. There is a book titled 'Jean Belleville, The Huguenot. His descendent'. In chapter 25 of this book George Edward Smith and the Smiths are mentioned and traced in detail. The book was written by: Paul Beleville Taylor in 1973. At that time the author lived at 705 Braubaker Dr, Kettering, Ohio, 45429. Also, you probably could get this book at a genealogy library. Any questions, you can reach us at e-mail: brsperzel@yahoo.net.

PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION TO MY EARLIER REPLY.......
My "Moore" ancestor was James Butler Moore (NOT John Butler Moore). Sorry for the error - I was temporarily "disoriented!" Charlotte

Marsha -- I have much information on the Moore family - most of it I found in the Floyd Co., New Albany, IN, Public Library (Main Library - genealogy section)and from other helpful "internet" correspondents.
My ancestor was John Butler Moore, b. ca 1790, Orange Co., NY, d. 1834, Mooresville, Floyd Co., IN, married to Lura Belle Smith, 1815, Corydon, IN - perhaps this is the same Smith family as yours. (I believe your Isaac is a descendent of this Moore.) Apparently, Mooresville got its name from this John Butler Moore. Lura Belle Smith's father was a Rev. War soldier, Asa Smith, from Connecticut. The libary mentioned above also has quite a bit of information on his family.
The Moore family info goes back to the late 1500s and the Smith family info goes back almost that far. The libary also has much info on the beginnings of Mooresville. I found the librarians to be most helpful. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
