Kentuckiana Genealogy: County: Crawford Co., Indiana: Jones of Crawford Co. Ind.

I have been told that Tobias Jones was born in Logan Co., KY. Has anybody done any research there that might connect William Allen Jones to the William Jones listed there who is son of Philip Jones and Elizabeth Henrietta Graham of Logan Co., KY?

I would like to know who Nancy M. Jones was. She appears in the home of William Allen Jones in the 1850 Census and would have been born in 1814 in Kentucky.

I am working on some onomastics about this family - I believe their son Tobias Lee Jones, may have been named after a brother of Rebecca Isabelle Lee. I have found a Tobias Lee who is about the right age to be her brother, who was from Allen Cos. and Monroe Cos. in Kentucky. He shows up in the 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 census for that area. I remember reading somewhere that a Tobias Lee was working as a chainrunner during the surveying and mapping out of Barren Co. in Kentucky. He was with a Richard Lee, maybe a relative? My question would be can I equate all of these Tobias Lees to be the same and to be the brother of Rebecca Isabelle Lee as well? If so, who is the Richard Lee he worked with as a chainrunner. If Richard was his father? then could this Richard Lee be the one from Caroline Co., VA who married Frankie Harrison? This Lee family is collateral in many ways to the Lee family of Virginia.

Rick: In reference to William A. Jones, b. about 1800 and Rebecca Isabelle Lee, she is buried in the old section of the Marengo, IN cemetery, just above the Marengo Cave. Wm. A. is buried at Goodman Ridge Cem. in Craw. Co., IN I, too, have heard the story about being relation to Lee family of Va, and since Rebecca is from Va., this is possible. I am not sure where April F. got the information about his parents, but I will check with her, since I did not have this.Wm is my ggggrandfather. Sincerely, Mary B. Gilmore.

I am a descendant of William Allen Jones and Rebecca Isabella Lee by their daughter Nancy who married John Bullington. John and Nancy are buried in Marengo, iN in the same cemetary as my grandfather and his brothers. I grew up in Leavenworth, IN and my uncle has done quite a bit of research on our family. I checked my family tree and I have parents of William Allen Jones as Anderson Jones and Priscilla Hedden. Unfortunately I am still new to this and I am uncertain whether I obtained this info from my uncle or from ancestry.com. I am looking for any info on William A.Jones, Born about 1800, was married to Rebecca Isabel Lee, she may have been a member of Gen. Robert E. Lee family but can not conferm this. They had 9 children, Adaline, Martha Jane, James Allen, William M, Elizabeth, Stephen, Tobias, Cynthia Ellen, and Nancy Emaline. William died in 1884, I have his decendents, but no parents or grand parents. Any help would be greatful, I am at a dead end. please help.
