On the 1850 Switzerland County, Indiana census Florence DeKernan (age 3 yr) and her mother Sibyl DeKernan and Philadelpha Boman are listed. There is record of a marriage license in Switzerland County in 1846 for Sibyl Bowman and Francis DeKerman. Florence DeKernan was my grandmother and as a young adult made her way to Texas prior to 1870. Francis DeKernan is reported to have left for the California Gold Rush with others and they were never heard from again.
