I'm inquiring into this person as that I can't find many Murphys in the census. I noticed Benjamin was in the 1820 census as head of household with 2 boys under the age of 10. There was also a female about his age and an older female over 45 living with him. Possibly one of their mothers lived with them. My Murphy tree ends with my Lloyd Murphy born in Hardin County in 1819. I'm trying to figure out more info on Benjamin to determine if he is Lloyd's father. Family stories always indicated a Benjamin somewhere (we thought it was a brother to Lloyd). I simply have no real proof. Does anyone out there have any more to add? I'm also wondering if this is the same Benjamin Murphy that married Polly Cundiff. The reason that is significant to me is that Lloyd married Paulina Cundiff who is Polly's sister. The census only shows one Benjamin, but the way Ky counties are set up, there may have been another one somewhere close by I just haven't found. I've also found that Benjamin was in the 5th regiment in War of 1812. He was born abt 1793. The Polly Cundiff married Ben Oct 24, 1815. There is also a listing that said he drowned in Rolling Fork River in 1822 in what is now Larue area. That is also where my Lloyd and family shows up. I never want to assume anything, but it sure appears this may very well be my Lloyd's dad. Just wanted confirmation. Please email me with any info you may have.
Thanks,
Donald Murphy
