My great-great grandmother, Lucretia F. Hackley went to live with relatives when she was small. "Judge" Slaughter is the only name she gave us. He was a large plantation owner, had other children, and some slaves. I have not been able to identify him to date, any help would be appreciated.
Lucretia was born 8 March 1811 in Hardin County to Samuel Ball Hackley and wife, Frances Slaughter. I am trying to learn more about her life before she came to Harrison Co., IN on 1 July 1823. I feel that Francis Hackley, who married Letty Dyer in Harrison Co., IN on 11 Sept 1823, was probably her brother.
I have much information on the ancestors of this couple and the family of Lucretia Hackley Hurst, down to the to the present and would be happy to share what I have.
