RIDLEY BURIAL GROUND
LACONIA, BOONE TWP, HARRISON CO., INDIANA
This cemetery is located about a mile and one half southeast of Laconia in Boone Township, Harrison Co., Indiana. This family burial ground is on a high bank of a gulley which is the beginning of Big Run which empties into the Ohio River about three miles southwest of this point. William Ridley was an extensive owner of land in this area of Boone Township, Harrison Co., IN and also in Spencer Co, IN. [Probate File Box 55 in Clerks Office, Harrison Co., Courthouse, Corydon, IN Settlement of William Ridley's Estate].
William RIDLEY married Venus DODDS, February 14, 1822 and had nine children. Venus DODDS was the daughter of Anthony and Eleanor DOUGLASS DODDS who are buried at the Kings Cemetery about one mile southwest of this family burial ground.
William RIDLEY [stone broken] Born @ 1870 - Died September 8, 1846 in the 67 year of his age.
Venus, wife of William RIDLEY, Born Oct 8, 1803 - Died September 9, 1846 age 42 years, 11 months, 6 days.
Also two unmarked graves with rough limestone at the head and foot of each grave - possible that these are two children of the above William and Venus DODDS RIDLEY.
Eleanor RIDLEY died before 1855, age about 30 years.
Nancy RIDLEY died before 1855.
