I have Doan's/Doane's in our family. What I understand are the Doan's were Quakers, and the
families with the E's left the sect.
There is also a Doan Family Association. Please

My 4th great grandmother, MARY ELIZABETH (DOAN ) SEDGWICK listed her place of birth as Orange County on her Widow's Pension application based on her husband's service in the Civil War. Her husband was JOSEPH HOLDEN SEDGWICK. They were married in Jefferson County, Indiana and had several children including JOHN DARE SEDGWICK, GEORGE LEONARD SEDGWICK, FRANCIS EDWIN SEDGWICK and GRACE SEDGWICK. Any info on the DOAN or SEDGWICK name would be great. I am also interested in the HARDY family of SCOTT county who married into the SEDGWICK line.
