Searching for the birth and parents of William Hiram Sloan reported to be born 4 March 1818, Clermont Kentucky.
The only Clermont that I can find is in Bullitt, County KY, and Clermont County Ohio. The only possible Sloan I have found was one in Ohio, but have since ruled him out. The 1850 census lists him from Sweden, found a Sweeden in Edmonson County, but no Sloan's. Censuses have his father from Ireland, and his mother from New York.
William married Eliza Evans on 6 September 1849 in McHenry Illinois.

Birth 4 March 1818 Clermont County Kentucky - from hand copy of an obituary and a family tree listing.
1850 census in Illinois lists him as 26 yrs old from Sweden.
9 August 1862 he mustered in with the Wisconsin Rifles, age listed as 41.
1880 census in Wisconsin lists him as 61, born Ky.
25 February 1888 he applied for an invalid pension, age 69.
18 November 1899 died in Iowa.
