I am trying to find information on my Great Grandfather. His name was John Theodore Grant. He married Elizabeth Paul Rumig(Rumix). John was said to have been adopted. There are several family stories. One of his children told me that he was raised by a Ms. Townsend, who was married to Dr. Blakenbaker. All this took place in Jefferson County, K.Y. J-Town more specifically. His name was never changed, and was his birth name reportedly. His death certificate lists his Father, but no Mother at all. There has been mention of his maybe being half Indian, half Black, or maybe even a child of incest. No one seems to know the real truth, and I really need to know it, to get any further in my research on that side of the family. Birth date for John Grant was; 06/12/1885 or 1886, death date was 03/21/1938. He was working on the Rail Road, in Fisherville, K.Y. and died of Pneumonia, from exposure.
