On June 17, 1911 Marion Spencer age 19 was sitting in a Church in Wolfe County located on Tarr Ridge. Stephen Ratliff of near Torrent in Wolfe came into the Church and shot Marion then fled. Was he ever caught? Does anyone know who his relatives are? Marion was the son of Oma Spencer a widow of Bill Spencer. Oma later married John Purdue. Oma was the daughter of Larkin Morris. Any info about the Spencer, Ratliff or Morris family is needed.

According to family sources two brothers of Marion's tailed Ratliff all the way to Texas where they killed him.

Marion was my grandfathers (melvin spencers) brother.
we had always heard the story of when "pop" went looking for his bros killers, and came back long after.
