He received his training from Camp Wolters Texas, Camp Gruber Oklahoma, Camp Breckenridge Kentucky. He left the states 15 Oct 1944 for England where he arrived 01 Nov 1944. Maurice also worked with his father at the Hicks Bus Co in Thorntown, In. On 14 Dec 1947, services were held at the Methodist Church for Maurice when his body was returned home on Sat, 13 Dec 1947 by railcar at the Big Four Depot at 10:52 AM.

His service awards include the Purple Heart and the Bronz Star Medal, and several others personal decorations.

This is my Great-Uncle, and he is listed on the memorial on the Boone County Court House lawn. Anyone who has informaion to share concerning the Sheets family, please contact me. I have a small list that dates back to pre-civil war time that I am working on.
