My ancestors were Robert and Lydia (TOOMEY) Patterson. They
were originally from the Mercer County Kentucky area. I know that
one of their children was John Finley PATTERSON (my GGgrandfather).
I am interested in hearing any information about Robert, or Lydia,
or John FINLEY.
John Finley was a member of the 49th Indiana Infantry Co. A in the
Civil war. He lived in Floyd County in 1865, and joined the M.E. Church
at Taylorville, Warrick Co. Indiana in the winter of 1865, and married
Margarett Elizabeth Barnett (Daughter of Ninevah Newton Barnett) He had
a son
named Alphonzo W. Patterson in New Albany Indiana in 1866.and various
other
locations prior to moving to Wayne County Illinois in 1875.
I know very little about John Finley's father and mother, but I do
know that Robert remarried after Lydia died. I also know that John
Finley had a stepmother, two sisters and a brother that were alive in
Indiana at the time of his death (3/22/1908). He had a sister that died
before
he did named Ealie (Patterson) Barnett.
Hopefully some of the information that I have provided will help someone
point me in the right direction to learn more about John Finley
Patterson's
parents. I will appreciate any information that anyone can provide.

Does anyone have knowledge of the Sandy Hill Baptist Church founded in 1840.
It was located 1 3/4 miles NW of the junction of KY 428 w/KY79 between Irvington & 2 1/2 miles east of Midway.
It became the Sandy Hill Farm in 1974. The Sandy Hill Baptist Church had a cemetery which is still there.
I have found some of my SMITH line buried there. The cemetery is in disrepair and the stones are falling and illegible.
I would be interested in any records of that church and also a list of the people buried there.
I am researching Granville T. SMITH b. 25 June 1821, d. 30 Oct 1906.
He married Martha J. SMITH who was b. 26 Jan 1823 and d. 15 Aug 1883.
They were md. 22 Apr 1842. Their children were John T., Robert, James. S., William, Granville L., & Jonthe Elvira.

I am working on a family history of the FESSEL family. Anthony FESSEL and
family came from France to America in the early 1830's, settling in
Harrison Co., IN before 1840. Descendants include the names FESSEL,
GETTELFINGER, SEESSENGOOD, SCHUMANN, BUECHLER, EMS, JACOBI, ADAMSON,
KNABLE, ANDRES, TIMPERMAN and many others. This family spread from
Harrison Co., into Floyd Co., and descendants are also located in
Louisville, KY, Olney, IL and Knoxville, TN among other places. Any help
is welcome. Currently the book has almost 5000 people including spouses
and it's not finished yet!

Looking for any information on Alexander Williams from NC, he is in the
Washington County history book as one of the first in Polk township. He
married Ruth Wilson. His first daughter Nancy Williams married my Henry
Highbarger, somewhere in Indiana. They had two son's here in Indiana 1.
John Highbarger and 2. Benjamin Wilson Highbarger. They moved to
Scotland Co., MO. where they had the rest of their children. I can not
find where Henry HIGHBARGER and Nancy WILLIAMS married or lived in
Indiana but since both sides of her family lived in Washington Co. I
feel that must be where they were married. Any information the
HIGHBARGER - WILLIAMS OR WILSON would be appreciated.

I'm looking for my great-great grandmother, Mary SANDS.
She isn't the Mary SANDS born in Harrison County in 1825.
She was the first wife of Jesse MARLOW who was in Breckinridge County in
1850, in Hancock County in 1860 and whose widow, Isabelle (RICHARDS) was
in Hancock County in 1880.
I think she was born about 1815-20. In 1850, there was a Charles Marlow,
16, living with John A. and Docia SANDS. The census reports him as being
born in Indiana.
Her other MARLOW children would have been Margaret, born 1843, Wesley,
born 1836, and James MONROE (my great grandfather) born 1846.
